Opening the palette#
Press CmdK anywhere in the app. A search box appears in the middle of the screen. Press Escape to close it.
A second shortcut, CmdP, opens the same palette focused on symbol search. Use it when you know you want a ticker, not a page or an action.
What the palette searches#
One box searches three catalogs at once:
| Catalog | Examples |
|---|---|
| Pages | Holdings, Allocation, Performance, Transactions, Settings |
| Actions | Sync Now, Import CSV, Toggle Privacy, New Workspace, Tag Selected Security |
| Securities | Any ticker or company name |
Your tags appear too, prefixed with a hash: type #div to jump straight to a tag named dividends.
Matching is fuzzy. Type perf to reach Performance. Type appl to find Apple. You never need the exact name, a few distinctive letters is enough.
Symbol search checks your own holdings first, using the local search index, then merges results from the wider market. What you own always surfaces at the top.
Keys inside the palette#
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
Up / Down | Move the highlight through results |
Enter | Run the highlighted item |
Escape | Close the palette |
Opening a page navigates immediately. Running an action executes it in place. Selecting a security opens it so you can see its price, profile, and chart.
Favorites and custom hotkeys#
Right-click any palette entry to star it. Starred commands pin to the top whenever the palette is empty, so your five most-used commands are always two keystrokes away.
Right-clicking also lets you assign a custom hotkey to that command. A command you run ten times a day can graduate from the palette to its own key.
Favorites are stored in your config file under [palette], so they travel with your other settings. See Configure Pyx with TOML files.
A palette-first workflow#
The palette replaces most clicking. A realistic session without touching the mouse:
- CmdK, type
hold,Enter. You are in Holdings. /to focus the filter, typeroth,Enter. The table narrows to one account.Downa few times,Enter. The detail drawer opens on a position.- CmdK, type
sync,Enter. Accounts and prices refresh in the background. - CmdP, type a ticker,
Enter. Full security view, no sidebar involved.
Every step is a search away, which means there is nothing to memorize. If you remember one shortcut in Pyx, make it CmdK. The rest of the app is reachable from there.
The palette can also replay onboarding, toggle amount hiding, and reach every settings panel. When in doubt, type what you want to do.
Where to go next#
The palette is one shortcut among many. The full reference, including Vim-style list navigation, is in Keyboard shortcuts and the Vim keymap.
