A tag is a watchlist that knows your portfolio#
A tag is a named group of securities. Members can be positions you hold, tickers you are only watching, or both. That makes a tag a generalized watchlist: the classic "stocks I am watching" list is just a tag whose members happen to be unheld, pinned to the sidebar.
The difference from a plain watchlist is that tags see your portfolio. A tag knows which members you hold, what they are worth, and what share of your portfolio they represent. "AI names I own or want" and "my dividend payers" live in the same place, with the same analytics.
Tags apply to securities only. Tagging transactions is planned but not built.
Create a tag#
Several paths lead to the same place:
- Open Tags from the sidebar and click Create your first tag, or New tag once you have some.
- Select a holding in any list and press
t. The tag picker opens, and typing a name that does not exist yet offers Create tag. - Run Tag Selected Security from the command palette. Tags themselves appear in the palette as
#name.
Names are unique regardless of case. Each tag takes one of eight preset colors, or Auto, which picks a stable color from the name. A short description is optional.
The Tags overview#
The overview lists every tag as a card, pinned tags first. Each card shows the member count, how many members you hold, and, for held members, the slice of your portfolio the tag represents. It is a quick answer to "how much of my money is in this theme."
Inside a tag#
Opening a tag shows the members with the numbers that matter side by side:
- A stat row: Members, Held, Market value, Day change, Weight, plus the best and worst performer today.
- A member table: ticker with a HELD badge where you own it, name, trend sparkline, last price, day change in dollars and percent, P/E, market cap, dividend yield, and for held members quantity, market value, and weight.
- Upcoming earnings as a pill strip, so the next report dates in the group are visible at a glance.
- Day-change heat tiles, held members first, then watch-only.
- Exposure by member, showing how the tag's value splits across its holdings.
Quick actions add a security, open the compare chart, or export the member table to CSV.
A tag's page also lists the notes linked to it, with a shortcut that starts a new note already linked to the tag. A tag-linked note pins as a flag on every member security's chart, so a thesis about the theme shows up wherever the theme trades.
Compare members against your benchmark#
Each tag has a Performance chart that rebases every member to percent change over 1M, 3M, 6M, YTD, or 1Y, with your configured benchmark drawn as a dashed line. It answers the question a watchlist cannot: are these names actually beating the index, or just moving?
The compare chart draws the first 12 members. Larger tags still track fine; the chart just stays readable.
Pin tags to the sidebar#
Pin a tag and it appears in the sidebar's Tags section with its color dot, one click from anywhere. Right-click a pinned tag to rename, unpin, reorder, or delete. Unpinned tags stay reachable from the Tags overview, the palette, and Settings.
Watch before you buy#
Watch-only members are first-class: they get the same price, fundamentals, earnings, and compare treatment as holdings, with the weight column left blank. When you eventually buy, nothing changes except the HELD badge appearing. Research and ownership live in one continuous view.

If you enable AI agent access, the tags capability lets a connected agent create and maintain tags for you, useful for "tag everything in my portfolio that reports earnings this month."
